And
can you blame them?
According to the article:
"Long, sandy beaches, clear blue water,
brilliant sunsets...in Michigan? You bet. The stretch of Lake Michigan
coastline that hugs the western border of the state has all the
charm of the seashore, only without the stinging jellyfish, blanket-to-blanket
crowds and impossibly high home prices. While lots of appealing
little towns dot this "Riviera of the Midwest," St. Joseph
- with its vibrant year-round community, topnotch medical care and
proximity to Chicago - stands out."
It's true. St. Joseph is truly one of the best places in the Midwest
to retire. You may ask yourself, "If St. Joe is one
of the best places to retire, what is the best place in St. Joe
to retire to?"
The answer that a local citizen is most likely
to give is "The Whitcomb". Situated in downtown St. Joseph,
overlooking the aforementioned Lake Michigan, the Whitcomb has provided
the best value of any senior living retirement community in the
area for over 35 years.
In fact, the photo above was taken from the bluff,
right in front of the Whitcomb. And with the Jack Nicklaus Signature
Golf Course set to open across the river (within walking distance)
in Summer of 2009, not only do residents of the Whitcomb have front
row seats to all of the beautiful festivals, parks, beaches, and
downtown shopping, but you'll have
easy access to a golf course designed by the Golden Bear himself.
In a recent survey, the overwhelming majority of Whitcomb residents
said they would recommend living at the Whitcomb to a friend.
When Lynn Kellog, CEO of the local Area Agency On Aging was asked
why she advised her mother to choose the Whitcomb, she said "Because
of the Whitcomb resident's active and social interaction as well
as the individualized personal care and assistance in living options.
I also appreciate the Whitcomb's involvement and dedicated service
to the community."
Mrs. Sieber put it a little more simply: "We just
like it. We really, really like it!"
